Greg Lindsay AO

lindsay-greg-1Executive Director and Founder of The Centre for Independent Studies

While studying philosophy at Macquarie University in the early 1970s, Mr Lindsay became interested in the ideas underpinning a free and open society. A maths teacher by training, Mr Lindsay taught for some years at Richmond High School in Western Sydney, and while there, founded the Centre in 1976. Since then, he has overseen the development of CIS into Australia's largest independent think tank covering the three major policy areas – economic, social and international.
He has been active in the international liberal movement and is a former President of The Mont Pelerin Society (www.montpelerin.org) and the Council of Macquarie University.

Communications and Editorial Manager

Karla has a Bachelor of Visual Arts, a Graduate Diploma of Public Policy and more than 20 years of experience in media and communications. Her journalism career includes eight years as a print section editor and six years as a national website editor for News Corp, several roles in media and publications at James Cook University, plus arts commentary and review for a range of specialist publications.

Design and Production Manager

Ryan joined CIS in 2010, as the in-house graphic designer. He manages the production of the centres publications and designs graphics for all events, marketing material and website. Ryan studied at CATC Design School (previously known as Commercial Arts Training College) in Sydney and he also works as a freelance graphic designer.

Di works with the Directors and Executive to develop our community of supporters. She has completed an MBA and prior to joining the CIS, Di worked extensively in retail and investment banking.

Events Director

With more than fifteen years’ experience in event management, marketing and public relations, Meegan has had an interesting and varied career working for organisations such as the Australian National Maritime Museum, the Australian Human Resources Institute, the Olympic Co-ordination Authority, and the Investigator Science and Technology Centre. Prior to joining CIS in January 2008, Meegan freelanced as a writer and editor of corporate materials and non-fiction books, and spent two years living in Argentina.

Executive Assistant and Events Assistant

Kiri graduated from Monash University with Honours in Gender Studies and Criminology. She has also completed her Masters in Arts Management from the Australian Institute of Music. For the last 6 years Kiri has worked as an events and projects coordinator in a variety of industries including not-for-profit, performance art and entertainment. Kiri is also a seasoned freelance circus performer who has entertained both locally and internationally.

General Manager and Student Program Coordinator

Jenny is the General Manager at the CIS. In addition, she coordinates the Liberty and Society student program which is a unique conference program that allows university students to immerse themselves in classical liberal ideas.  She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of NSW and worked for many years in management positions in the retail industry and then running her own consulting and training business specialising in the retail market. Before joining the CIS, she also owned and ran Commentary Books, a specialised mail-order book business.

Bronwyn Nolan

Bronwyn is our Membership Manager. If you have any questions about becoming a member of the CIS, donating or subscribing to Policy magazine Bronwyn would be happy to speak to you. Bronwyn has 30 years experience in office administration in both the public and private sectors and has a BA (English) from the University of New South Wales.

Multi Media Co-ordinator

Matt has wide experience with web development and maintainence, film production, film editing, photography and setting up and running the technical elements of events. He began his career as an Electronics Technician with the Royal Australian Army. Matt has a Diploma of Screen and Media and a number of qualifications in web design, IT and photography. He has experience working with major Australian production companies and with small companies developing websites, filming and producing.

Alicia has joined the CIS to take up the part-time front desk administration role. She comes to us with strong administrative experience, her last position being the Office Manager for The Sports Physio Clinic. Alicia has a Bachelor of Social Science and a Post Graduate Certificate in Policing Intelligence and Counter-terrorism.
