Matters of the Heart: Jacinta Nampijinpa Price on Strength and Survival

Join us on March 14 for an evening with Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price as we host the Brisbane launch of her powerful memoir “Matters of the Heart” – the inspiring story of a Warlpiri woman’s journey from the red dust of remote Northern Territory to becoming one of Australia’s most influential political voices.

From completing her Year 12 studies with a newborn in her arms to confronting profound personal tragedy, Jacinta’s memoir offers a candid, raw account of overcoming violence and disadvantage to emerge as a formidable advocate for Indigenous Australians. In her own words: “I’ve been to hell and back, and I’ve survived.”

The evening will include also discussion of Jacinta’s groundbreaking “Worlds Apart” research published during her time at CIS, examining remote Indigenous disadvantage in the context of wider Australia, and her vision for meaningful progress.

Jacinta Nampijinpa Price is shadow minister for Indigenous Affairs. A former director of CIS’s Indigenous program, Jacinta was a prominent leader of the successful No campaign during last year’s referendum for a Voice to parliament. She is a former deputy mayor of Alice Springs.
