The Centre for Independent Studies is pleased to announce that Nicholas Moore has been appointed Chairman of its board. A CIS board member for the past 14 years, Mr Moore is succeeding Peter Mason, who will remain on the board.
Mr Moore is the former Chief Executive Officer of Macquarie Group Limited. He retired in November 2018 after 32 years at Macquarie, and 10 years as CEO.
He is also chairman of Screen Australia, the Sydney Opera House Trust and a director of the University of NSW Business School Advisory Council.
The appointment was welcomed by CIS Executive Director, Tom Switzer.
“I am looking forward to working with Nicholas to continue to build our great organisation,” he said.
“He is, like our previous chairmen, strongly committed to the principles that have defined CIS for more than four decades.
“And he appreciates the difference the CIS has made during that time to good policy development in our country — and the importance of this policy agenda in our continued success.
“We have greatly appreciated Peter Mason’s support and leadership. His counsel has been invaluable and, as you know, his enthusiasm for our work has always been evident.
“He has also presided over significant change at CIS: our move from St Leonards to Macquarie Street as well as the generational change in executive leadership — both of which were seamless under his stewardship.”
